How are ELLs identified in Florida?
Schools identify the ELLs during the enrollment process based on the Home Language Survey. the name of all new students who answered “Yes” to any of the HLS questions and are pending testing. The principal’s designee and/or the ELL contact coordinate the testing schedule with the assigned district program assistant.
