Camden Fort Meagher is an old Military Fortification steeped in History, dating back to the 14th Century built as part of a three fort defence system to protect the inner harbour. Originally built and occupied by British troops, it was handed over to the Irish army in 1938 as one of the Treaty Ports.

The fort was renamed Camden Fort Meagher and is now open seasonally to visitors, with exhibits on the fort’s Brennan torpedo installation (the world’s first “practical guided weapon”).
