Picked up a Pfaff 360 with a wooden sewing table in superb condition yesterday at a Goodwill store for $108. I would have been able to return it if it didn’t work. Needed to tinker with the setting a bit, as I think folks turned this and turned that to see if it would run. I actually followed the included manual and now it is sewing fine.

The 360 will do 2 layers no problem but if you get to 4 that may be different. I think walking foot is a really safe choice but they are all industrial machines and can be expensive. A standard industrial would also work but in either case you need to get a slow speed servo motor to replace the production motor… added cost again.
