Does 35M require language?
Training to become an MOS 35M includes Basic Combat Training, language training, and then 19 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). The length of language training depends on the language assigned to you.

- Category I languages, 26-week courses, include Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.
- Category II, 35 weeks, includes German and Indonesian.

Can I choose language at DLI?
A: DLIFLC does not determine which service-members come to the institute or what language they will be assigned to study. Normally, students are given one of their top three choices of language. However, often the assigned language can depend on the needs of the Services.

Courses last from 36 to 64 weeks, depending on the difficulty of the language. DLIFLC is a multi-service school for active and reserve components, foreign military students, and civilian personnel working in the federal government and various law enforcement agencies.

What is 35M AIT like?
Instead of practicing how to shoot an enemy, provide them aide etc you’ll approach the situation with your mind, words and personality. This MOS is unlike Infantry in that in the Infantry we can usually discuss weapons and tactics. As a 35M you’re not going to discuss anything unless in classified environment.
