What is the TMDSAS match?
Essentially, the TMDSAS Match is conducted to confirm the pre-match offers that some applicants may be holding and fill the remaining open slots for the medical schools. Applicants that have not received pre-match offers can still match to a school where they have interviewed.
What is a pre-match offer?
To help highly competitive Texas resident medical applicants plan for the TMDSAS Match, member institutions extend Pre-Match Offers. These offers indicate that applicants have ranked very high on a particular school’s list and will match to that school if the applicant ranks the school favorably.
What does TMDSAS processing mean?
After you submit your application, TMDSAS will process and transmit your application to the schools you have selected on your application. It normally takes 2-4 weeks for applications to be processed. You will receive an email when your application has been processed and transmitted to the schools to which you applied.
Where do schools rank TMDSAS?

Once you log in, click on the [School Rank Preference] link under [Pending Actions] on the right-hand side of the page. You will only see this link once a school has updated your status to “Interviewed” on their end.
What is the difference between TMDSAS and AMCAS?
The main difference is character count. AMCAS allows for 5,300 characters (including spaces) while TMDSAS only allows for 5,000 (including spaces). So if you are hitting the limit on the AMCAS, you are going to have to edit it to fit TDMSAS restrictions.
When should I submit TMDSAS?
The deadline to submit the application is 5 p.m. CST on Monday, November 1, 2021. All application documents, including primary application forms, transcript(s), letters of evaluations, etc., must be submitted by November 15, 2021 to TMDSAS.
Does TCOM use TMDSAS?
In addition to the TMDSAS application, applicants are required to submit a secondary application directly to TCOM, available through the TCOM admissions portal. Applicants must create an account in the portal.
Is Baylor a part of TMDSAS?
Baylor’s M.D. program participates in the TMDSAS Letter of Recommendation service. All letters must be processed through TMDSAS Letter Service.
Can I accept multiple medical school offers?
You may hold acceptances at multiple schools until May 15. After May 15, you may hold an acceptance at only one school. Deposits to hold a place in the class are typically $100 and are usually refundable until a certain date (often May 15).
Do Texas medical schools accept out of state students?
Less than 10% of matriculants are from out-of-state However, only 5-10% of matriculants are from out-of-state This is not only because Texas medical schools favor Texas residents. Non-Texas residents generally apply through AMCAS and TMDSAS and matriculate at whatever school they feel is the strongest.
Can you decline a residency match?
Anyone who matches through the NRMP is required to remain in the training program for 45 days after their contract takes effect. Failure to do so could prevent an applicant from being able to re-enter the Match.
Should I take a prematch offer?
When you receive a Pre-Match offer from a program ranked lower on your list, you have the choice to either secure a position within that program, or to continue through the Match and aim for one of your higher ranked programs. Having that choice available to you is definitely an advantage.
